As well as being located at the foot of the mountain registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Fujinomiya also has unique attractions such as rainbow trout, numerous breweries, dairy products and an award-winning local fried noodle dish called Fujinomiya Yakisoba.

Nagano (長野県, Nagano-ken) is a mountainous, landlocked prefecture in the center of Honshu, belonging to the Chubu Region. Nagano was the site of the Olympic Winter Games 1998. Prefectural capital is Nagano City.

Even as the modern city buzzes and shifts all around, a waft of burning incense, or the sight of a bright vermillion torii gate marking a shrine entrance, are regular reminders that Kyoto remains the spiritual heart of Japan.
